Plesk Backup

Hi,

I configure Plesk Backup Schedule, for backup to a FTP remote server.
Everything works fine.

But the problem is, the backup file is about 1Gb, and the upload takes almost 2h30.
And all this time, plesk is off (because i configure this way)

Why not enable plesk after backup for the file!
And then upload the file over FTP?

Thanks

Samuel

Do you mean create backup file on the server and than move it to FTP?
It requires additional free space on the disk.

But Plesk Backup do that.
He create file, upload and delete.

Yesterday i receive this report:
Backup error.
Unable to establish connection with ftp://server.name

I found the backup file in this path:
C:\SWSoft\Plesk\PrivateTemp

And i request this because i check the logs and see..

(...)
Start: Stopping Plesk control panel
(...)
Start: Upload 'psa-8.2-NAME-[3].psa' to FTP server...
End: Upload 'psa-8.2-NAME-[3].psa' to FTP server...
Start: Starting Plesk control panel.

This cannot be ... like...

(...)
Start: Stopping Plesk control panel
(...)
Start: Starting Plesk control panel.
Start: Upload 'psa-8.2-NAME-[3].psa' to FTP server...
End: Upload 'psa-8.2-NAME-[3].psa' to FTP server...

Plesk create backup in some minutes... like 15 minutes, but upload take 2h30... and its a lot of services stopped.

Thanks

Samuel

Hello samuelpereira,

Thank you very much for the report.
You are actually right and Plesk should start services at once after file is ready to transfering.
It will be fixed as soon as possible.

Hi,

I will test this night, i will tell you something later.

Thanks,
Samuel

Yep, we can. This feature is scheduled for future versions.
Thank you for the help to make Plesk better.

How usually long delay? 1 ms? 1 sec? 1 min? 1 hour? 1 day?
It's possible to attempt to upload N times per T timeout.
Or to attempt to upload till next scheduled task.

Sorry, i dont undestand...

I have my Windows Plesk in one datacenter, and i make backups to other server in diferrent location, for redudancy...

Lets see, when we have an error of upload, is because maybe a lost of connection on remote ftp.

ms and sec, i think is too soon...

I dont known who you schedule, but can be like...

30 min - temporary outage of ftp
1 hour - temporary outage of ftp - send email
6 hours - too much time down.. but... - send email
12 hours - maybe some maintenance :) - send email
24 hours - if not can upload, give up.. and send an email error..

24 hours reach next scheduled task, give up and send an email error...

Something like that, i think that will be nice.

Thanks,

Samuel
