Hi Ivalics

just tried theDomain Aliasing from your 3.6 update. It doesnt work on my new server.

the domain alias doesnt resolve and restarting named throws this error...

/etc/named.conf:206: expected quoted string near '/'

Jun 05 20:21:15.922 starting BIND 9.2.4 -g
Jun 05 20:21:15.923 using 1 CPU
Jun 05 20:21:15.928 loading configuration from '/etc/named.conf'
Jun 05 20:21:15.929 /etc/named.conf:168: open: /etc/psaptzone.files: file not found
Jun 05 20:21:15.930 loading configuration: file not found
Jun 05 20:21:15.930 exiting (due to fatal error)
Error in configuration file /etc/named.conf : [FAILED]

Check /var/named/run-root/etc/psaptzone.files

See if exist.
Can be the named run-root is an another path or loading in an another way. Sometimes happens.

/var/named/run-root/etc/psaptzone.files

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jun 5 20:19 psaptzone.files

file exists but is blank

/var/named/run-root/include/domaintoalias.com - file looks good

/home/httpd/vhosts/domaintoalias.com/conf/vhost.conf - file looks good

tried changing
/etc/psaptzone.files
to be
/var/named/run-root/etc/psaptzone.files

in named.conf but of course that doesnt work also

what should content of psaptzone.files be?

There we write the content of new zone, like what is in named.conf.
We tried ti avoid to write in named.conf to not delete by PLESK.
Include is not deleted.
Please try to see your home dir, can be a trick in some servers, but is clear, need to be read that file by named to work correct.

/var/named/run-root/etc/psaptzone.files

can you give sample content for this file please

Sort of this
zone "domain.com" {
type master;
file "domain.com";
allow-transfer {
common-allow-transfer;
};

Had exactly the same error after updating to 3.6. When uninstalling PT 3.6 is everything ok, means no changes anymore made to named.conf?
Will you anounce, when a fixed version is available?
Greetings,
ProfiTiger

Until fix is out, please just edit /etc/named.conf and put

include /etc/psaptzone.files; in qoute like

include "/etc/psaptzone.files";

Hi lvalics,

this morning, i installed the update to 3.6. After adding a new domain, named did not restart because of the error asing2 had too. To fix, I uncommented the row include /etc/psaptzone.files; in named.conf for restarting this service. Later, I did an uninstall of PT3.6 and a fresh install. The new line inserted in named.conf was now in quotation marks. The only problem: there is no file "psaptzone.files" in /etc, I found one in /var/lib/named/etc (SuSE Linux 9.1)
Should I point now to this (empty) file in named.conf?
Greetings,
ProfiTiger

Compatibility with FreeBSD

Hi,

After downloading the latest installer by using the URL and executing it from the shell as root the following occurs (FreeBSD4.11):

Setting wrapper.

Any thoughts?

PowerToys 3.6 on FC2 - Plesk 7.5.3

Thanks!

Just wanted to post a Thank you!

PowerToys v3.6 is working wonderfully and the added ability to add Domain Aliases has made an incredible difference for me with my server! Thank you so much! Why on earth hasn't SW-Soft implemented domain aliases? They have e-mail aliases, and while I know that the two concepts are nothing alike in implementation, the concept is similar...

Congrats on an awesome release! =)

Greetings,
ProfiTiger

I have a similar problem to ProfiTiger. I have a new install of 3.6. When I added a domain alias, I was given:

Here is a list of files what we have modified.

/var/named/run-root/etc/psaptzone.files
/var/named/run-root/include/harvesthalo.com
/home/httpd/vhosts/monsen-family.com/conf/vhost.conf
/var/qmail/control/virtualdomains
/var/qmail/control/rcpthosts

The /var/named/run-root/etc/psaptzone.files file is blank, and there is no psaptzone.files file or symbolic link to it from the /etc directory. The name servers also do not return the domain when I dig against them.

Running Fedora w/plesk 7.5.3

Thanks for any help,

Tarren

chown: `named:named': invalid user

because on Debian is bind:bind :-((
We are working on this, but noone told me how can I detect DebiAn ...

For tmonsen .
I think wraper was not compilled well.

It seems no one is able to install it :)

i tried at FC2 and it failed.

giving a very creapy window full of errors and alien thingies.

As I told it before, software is not perfect, we needed to do a wrapper, but we don't know how to compile it to offer it for anyone indifferent from OS. So if wrapper is not compiling well, then is a problem.
